Job posts mention Kubernetes a lot. I'm a junior backend dev comfortable with Docker. Is it worth investing in K8s now?

Learn it at a user level, not an administrator level, and only after Docker feels natural.

Worth knowing as a backend developer: - core objects: Pod, Deployment, Service, Ingress, ConfigMap, Secret; - reading and writing basic manifests or Helm values; - debugging with kubectl get/describe/logs/exec and understanding CrashLoopBackOff and Pending; - how health probes and resource requests affect your app.

Practice locally with kind or k3d, deploying one of your own apps.

What you can skip for now: cluster installation, networking internals (CNI), and operating etcd. Those are platform-engineer territory.

Higher return for a junior: solid SQL, testing, one cloud's basics (IAM, storage, managed DB), CI/CD, and debugging production issues from logs.
